JARUSHUB ONE-LINE DESCRIPTION: The A-Z of Oil & Gas

JARUSHUB REMARKS

Despite being the CEO of arguably the most sought after company in Nigeria, he doesn’t command celebrity status like say bank CEOs.

He has had all his career in Shell. He finished university in 1978, joined Shell same year, and today, 36 years later, still with them.

The above buttresses my common point here that oil and gas industry, especially upstream, has the lowest turnover rate. I have seen too many people spend 30 years and above in the industry, not necessarily in same company, but moving within the industry.

He made a First Class degree, like Biodun, Acha and Yemi earlier featured on this platform. I leave you, student-reader, with the conclusion.

Did anyone notice that he had no more than his Bsc from UNILAG until 1996, almost 20 years after working with Shell, and already a Manager? He got Harvard certificate after he was made already. Experience trumps certificate.

He was the second Nigerian CEO of Shell Nigeria

This man’s career story just nailed the perpetual arguments I’ve always had with some degree-freaked fellows. You don’t have to be a professor to get relevance in your society. Amassing certificates does not mean one is getting knowledge and experience to excel. I’m sure 80% of our professors will listen ‘attentively’ when this man speaks.
