Taiwo’s career defies a number of stereotypes – competitiveness of HND certificate, role of background in career success and role of competence in speedy career rise. From his humble background in a sleepy village in his native Ondo state, he came to Lagos and rose to the top of the corporate ladder in a short time; he was once turned down by UNILAG and OAU (given admission to study only a course he didn’t desire), but he remained adamant – accountancy or nothing, even if it had to be in Polytechnic. Long story cut short, he not only achieved his dream, he also now sits on top of the Council of one of the world’s most prestigious accounting bodies, ACCA. He once narrated in an interview with founders of this website that he literally gatecrashed PwC graduate test after his friend told him about the test just hours before the test date. The rest is history, he is now one of the executives in that firm whose test he gatecrashed less than 20 years ago.
To mentor others based on his background and experience, he set up a leadership foundation.
