It is no news that the computer-based test stage of the ongoing recruitment by Nigeria’s oil corporation, NNPC, held on 1 June 2019. The questions from candidates have been: when will the results be released? When will the successful candidates be invited for interview?
It is clear that the next stage will be oral interview.
There are some unconfirmed reports that it was said at an Abuja test center that the test result will be out in July.
There are other reports that successful candidates will be contacted within a week after the test. That does not seem feasible given that a lot goes into post-test decision process – for example, decision on what cut-off mark to use, the number of candidates to be invited for next stage, fixing a date for the next stage, informing the interviewers and putting in place other arrangements. So, clearly, informing candidates of success within a week after the test seems infeasible.
Ordinarily, recruitment processes for government jobs takes a lot of time – as much as 2 years. In the last mass recruitment by NNPC, which ended in 2012, it took at least 4 months after test to be called for interview. However, given that that one was a paper-based test and this one was a CBT, it is easier to grade. In fact, if not for matters of post-test decisions as earlier stated above, the results can be released within 48 hours. But it is not just about results, it is about evaluation of results.
In any case, given the above and given that NNPC has shown very high seriousness in this recruitment process (inviting for test roughly 2 months after end of application process), it is safe to say successful candidates candidates will be notified of their success latest 2 months after the test date, that is, before August 2019.
We wish all candidates all the best.
