The ongoing recruitment exercise by Nigeria’s national oil corporation, the NNPC, is about to enter into the next phase, the interview stage.
In this article, our team have researched and compiled the areas where the questions usually come from.
- Introduction: Like almost any other interview, the first question will require you to introduce yourself. It will be a disaster if you cannot coherently talk about yourself.
2. Questions from your CV: The interviewers will have your CV with them on that day and that will be their first reference. Expect questions on what you do in your current job, why you have not been working if you are still unemployed, any gap on your CV, why you have been changing jobs, etc. Many questions will flow from your CV. Your response will no doubt lead to other questions.
3. Questions on your field or course of study: A few questions may come up on your course of study. You may be asked how you think your course is relevant to NNPC. The questions may even be technical one, like questions on mechanical engineering or accounting.
4. Questions on NNPC: This is a given. You will be asked questions on NNPC. You could be asked questions about NNPC subsidiaries, divisions, etc., and what they do in them. You will be asked where you think you fit most.

You may be asked to demonstrate your understanding of oil industry, the various divisions of the oil and gas industry – upstream, midstream, downstream. You may be asked about contemporary issues in the oil and gas industry, about PIB, local content, oil price, etc
