WHAT SHOULD FOLLOW A LOWER CREDIT IN HND: PGD OR BSC?

2

Salam alaykum Jarus,

I stumbled on your blog a few weeks back and since then I visit once in a while.  Today I took time to read lots of articles in there so decided to share my story.

I am an HND graduate of Mass Communication who graduated with Lower Credit (CGPA, dropped by 2 points in my final semester at school due to multitasking in form of business since I had to majorly sponsor myself). So I graduated with 2.98 on a scale of 4.00.

I interned with a major HR firm in Lagos for 6 months before NYSC with some help and developed interest in HR.  Now the issue is my mentor (A very learned and seasoned HR personnel who is part  management of a large conglomerate) suggests I go study for a Bsc (PT) from the scratch at NOUN then do an MBA later on.

I don’t want to study from the scratch anymore.  I do rather do a PGD in Business Administration then an MBA with a specialization in HR then register for CIPM now (I am currently serving in a northern state).

Do you think I should go for a BSc degree or go my way?

I believe and I am smart enough to excel in any workplace I find myself. I just wish my grade won’t be an obstacle.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks in anticipation.

Ma Salam.

ROAD TO VI FINAL COVER - PRINT

First, I agree with you from your writing skills that you’re smart enough
to hold your own in any employment.

I also agree that a PGD and then MBA is the better route. But I will
advise you start CIPM in earnest. You don’t need to wait.

I have a friend that had HND too. He just did MBA + ICAN (since he’s
into accounting), and got good job in a very good company.

I wish you all the best.

Jarus
