QUESTIONS:
1. Why PwC and why do you think you have the skills to work with PwC?
Tip: Tell the interviewer(s) why you love PwC and your reasons to work with the firm. Reasons could be the value of training, exposure, development process etc. Additionally, you need to align your skills to the culture of PwC and carefully but modestly tell the interviewer(s) why you are the right fit for the role. This is by linking what is on your CV to the company and role. PwC is a global firm that gives international exposure. Play on that. Tell them you value the potential exposure, the company’s international brand, the training opportunity, the value they attach to ethics etc.
2. Why Audit? (Especially if you possess a non-accounting/business related degree)
Tip: Here, you need to display your desire to be an auditor even when you did not study accounting. For example, assuming you studied Food & Nutrition, you can convey your skills in this format: “As a food nutritionist I have been trained to be very meticulous and observant, as a little too much of one ingredient can spoil a whole meal or maybe even render it harmful. These are traits that are will be useful as an auditor as s/he needs to have a good eye for details and also be patient and meticulous when going over the books of clients.”
3. Describe a time where you had to convince your superior to go with your suggestion?
Tip: A typical behavioural question where you have to explain how you were able to manage a situation in the workplace. Here, you explain how you were able to convince your superior to go with your suggestion by laying out the facts bare thereby comparing them together as to which one will get the most desired results. If you have never experienced it, tell them you have not experienced it and quickly add what you will do if faced with such situation in the future.
4. You get employed and discover a fraud in the unit you are in, and your present boss was your predecessor. What would you do?
Tip: A situational based question that tests your integrity, hierarchical thought process, ways to communicate etc. You are expected to display someone who is ethical and can report fraud even when it is by your superior. Tell them you know PwC will have a process for managing such (e.g fraud reporting channel). Tell them you will use such channel. Do not ever say you will compromise integrity. No matter what.
5. What do you have to say about the economy presently?
Tip: The interviewer(s) expect you to relay what you think about the economy; its developments; policies; latest news and analysis. Basically, you are expected to show that you are current, articulate and objective regarding the economy. Being someone that follows news, or even threads on the social media like Nairaland front page, BBC, Business Day, Facebook etc could be helpful in being current on the economy. In any case, they do not expect you to be as current on the economy as CBN governor, ability to talk briefly on one or two trending topics on the economy is enough.
