THE MONSTER CALLED JOB TESTS
Hi,
My name is Adeola, I came across JarusHub while surfing the web for advice on career choice. I studied agricultural economics and extension in a university in the South West, where I graduated with a 2:1.
Ever since I finished my youth service, I have been invited to write tests by some banks and an audit firm but I keep flunking the tests. I guess I need to study hard for that. Although I am currently into a business but I wish to advance; which brings the problem of choosing the right career for me.
I want to work in the corporate world. I was made to understand that I need to write professional exams and probably obtain an Msc as well.
Please I need you to advise me on the right course to study; I am considering Msc in finance plus a professional course.
Thank you
Jide

Dear Jide,
There is a limit to what certificate can do. Your 2.1 has been working for you by getting you job test invites, but you’re flunking them. Even if you have Msc Finance and the professional exam, and still could not pass tests, I’m afraid they wont make any difference.
My candid advice: there is no harm in enrolling for professional exam and Msc (and I advise you do), but you need to work on your test taking skills. That is called defense of certificates and more important than the grades. Go and find out why you keep flunking tests. Do you panic under test conditions? Is it an aspect of the tests (quantitative aptitude, for most people) that you’re not OK with? Are you slow in test situation? Find out what is wrong and try to improve. Otherwise, I’m not sure you can escape tests even if you have all the certificates in this world.
I wish you all the best.
