The Jarus Eggheads
Like I have mentioned several times, the primary foci of this blog are career, mentorship and management. My goal is to make this platform Nigeria’s online hub for issues bordering on career and mentorship in particular.
As the blog continues to stamp its authority as Nigeria’s most value-adding career hub, I have received several emails from readers, some of whom followed me from Nairaland career section (where I had been an active contributor since 2008), seeking my opinion/advice on issues bordering on career and related decisions. Two good heads, the popular truism goes, are better than one. That is why I have come up with a new idea of constituting a standing team of peer counselors for the blog.
- JARUSHUB ANALYSTS COUNCIL (JAC) – THE JARUS EGGHEADS
I have named the team, JARUSHUB ANALYSTS COUNCIL (JAC), to be aka’d THE JARUS EGGHEADS or THE JARUS GANG.
- MODUS OPERANDI
Any email I receive asking for career advice or related issue shall be passed on to JAC to examine and give their honest opinion based on their personal experience, experience of people around them, what they have seen and read, etc. I will then publish both the issue and the views of each member of JAC. I will also act as the moderator.
- GOAL
The goal of this initiative is to share experience and raise a generation of Nigerians that are savvy and enlightened. I have always harped on the fact that information gap is the bane of many otherwise brilliant young Nigerians. Nobody can tell how impactful a piece of information can be in the life of a fellow human being. We hope to contribute our little to plugging that hole through this platform.
- THE TEAM
I have drawn the team from my pool of friends whose intelligence I can take to bank. I have related with them for many years and I believe their judgments are usually scientific. Despite having access to a couple of high ranking executives, I have decided to use my peers for this idea. I have underway another initiative, THE BRIDGE , which will involve making use of my modest contact to link young Nigerians with some select, older Nigerian achievers, for mentorship. That is still in the works and shall be unveiled soon by God’s grace.
For this current idea, I am drawing my team from my peers – most being my mates, while a couple are older. This will guarantee faster response and they are also more likely in tune with current or recent realities.
The team, JARUSHUB ANALYSTS COUNCIL, consist of:
1, IDRIS AYODEJI BELLO, Msc (Oxford), MBA

Brilliant young guys with intimidating and motivating profiles you’ve got here.
However, given the fact that they are all Ife-alumni may not augur well for the initiative.
I am sure you have friends from other institutions who could also be part of the team.
Just an opinion.
Thanks for your comment, which I already noted and mentioned in my earlier comment. It so happened because I finished from Ife, where I met most of my friends. But I’m already speaking with a couple of other non-Ife guys to come join my team.

I am proud of this team. Very proud. Thumbs up, Jarus!
Thanks boss.

Speechless! I don’t even know where to start my comment from as all the profiles are highly intimidating, and of course, inspiring.
Even though am not oblivious of “hot” and academic sound of the likes of Femi Taiwo& Oyewale T. Suraj, as the Offa Grammar School distinction board tells much about them.
As a 25 year graduate of Economics, with 2nd class upper, I hope I can achieve such feats at 30years. But for my humble background??? All the best to the Jarus think thank.
Very achievable by God’s grace. At 25, I just graduated and never even started ICAN.
Profiles, as you stated could look intimidating but experience still beats padded ‘profiles’ anyday. While I’m not conversant with some of the ‘eggheads’ I know one of them from a close angle and I’m bemused that he would put himself forward as one who could mentor others or be picked as one of the analysts here. I’m interested to know what criteria you used to qualify these dudes. This particular guy was so full of ish and his skills, subject matter expertise and work performance so questionable that he hurriedly left the company so fast. Small wonder he left out the company from his ‘awesome’ resume. I’m impressed that his bluffings haven’t been noticed in his current ‘multinational’ employ, goes to say much about the human resource management of that particular company.
Just found you through Retroware TV, and now I’m hooked! Love your vids. Can you recommend any “classic” horror games? Maybe a point-and-click? Though really anything would do. (If it helps at all, I’m fond of the original Alone in the Dark, though I think moving the character around is way too awkward. I also like Shadowgate. I’m not really into FPSs though.) Thanks!
Eeek Marianne! We’ll all be at Portland but we have a room at the Red Lion (as does Carolyn) but we want to see you and Derridog! Dinner maybe? All kinds of friends from the past popping up recently (what with Alden and Kathy getting Wally/Hannah puppies too)-mandy
Suraj, you’re but a reference point! What a gathering/or team you’ve been able to put together; I’m highly impressed. Almighty God is your strength. Cheers!
Thanks boss!

For me,this is the best site I have visited lately.
I made a third class in Agric science from unilorin.Reason:I HATED the course.
Well, almost a decade after,I have decided to bag a b.sc degree from the oxford brookes uni via the acca programme, and ultimately acca.
I aim to make a first class,and I will.
But,am in dare need of two things:1)a mentor (2)and funding.
I currently work as a Teacher and barely able to feed.
Can I get help?
Not sure of the funding part, but you are welcomed for mentorship. Contact via jarushub@gmail.com

What have you being doing for the past 10 years? What plans do you have paying for your tuition.
My brother, you have to get a life and have to love or put in your best in whatever you are doing. You need to discover your purpose in life.
I equally made a 3rd class from UNILAG in 1998, not because I was not intelligent but due to youthful exuberance. But today I am a landlord in the city of Lagos, blessed by the Almighty with 2 houses in the city, and the third one is 70% completed and more than an average portfolio size in 3 reputable stockbroking house.
Just remember what Obama said, our destiny is not written for us, but it is written by us. Please make hay while the sun shines.
@ MUSA please find time to read the following books, Attitude is everything by Keith Harrel, Emotional intelligence by Daniel Goleman, Maximum achievement by Brian Tracy, See you at the top by Zig Ziglar, Power of positive thinking by Norman Peale, Incurable optimist by Norman Peale, Awaken the giant within by Anthony Robbins and 21 secrets of self made millionaires by Brian Tracy.
Where you will be in 10 years will be determined by the type of friends you keep and the types of books you read, because your network determine your net-worth.
When you are through with the listed books, I will recommend other books that will sharpen and broaden your investment and entrepreneurial horizons.
@ MUSA, are you based in Lagos? If yea, I will love to meet you.
You made a third class because you were lazy in School or because that was what your Professors taught you deserve when you left school about 10 years ago, it is now left to you to excel and prove that your you are not going to settle for a third class lifestyle or social status.
And remember to be close to your God. He will guide your path.

Hello, I studied Counselling in school cos I didn’t get Accounting…and because I had started with ICAN exams before getting admission. I finished with 2:1. Completed ICAN exams nov 2012(can’t get the ACA yet cos of work experience requirement). I started with CFA too, passed level 1 in June 2014, I have registered for the 2nd level. I finished service 16th Oct 2014 and I quite understandably expected to get a job almost immediately after service. I haven’t been able to get one thus far. So my question, do you think my course of study is working against me? And abeg all these your guys wey get ACA & CFA help me beg them na. Or it’s just hard getting a job in Accounting/Finance with zero work experience? Thanks.

Sir this question is very relevant to me, is there any person(s) who graduated with 2.1 from the so called first generation universities that is still looking for job. This is my email address azeezmubarak07@gmail.com
Yes, no automatic job for anyone just because he graduated from a first generation university. If he couldn’t pass test or interview or had a bad grade, his graduating form first generation uni will not help him.
I was doing Ican/ats1 did the exam sometime in 2011/12, stopped immediately I gained admission to study accountancy.
now my dilemma is that I want a professional cert to boost my career opportunities in the business world but I want to know if its possible for me to graduate and jump straight to PE I or I must av to continue from where I stopped which was ats1
I think it is possible to graduate and start from PE 1 (now known as Skills level).
Hi Jarus
You’ve got an excellent team here. However, wont it be good if you have those who have made it big despite their grades? Methinks it will have a better spread and for those who couldn’t get the best of grades like us, a closer perspective of inspiration will be gotten.
Noted. Thanks
