One of the most challenging socio-economic problems bedeviling our country is unemployment. Year after year, hundreds of thousands of graduates are being churned out from our tertiary institutions. The austerity that the economy has been going through in the last few years has meant that there are little job openings to fill.
But the self-employment advocacy which has gained currency is really yielding positive results. More and more people are now taking the bull by the horns. Despite the financial challenges, a number of Nigerian youths that have taken to self-employment are really making headway.
It may be a drop in the ocean, but definitely this gives hope. We hope other youths sitting idly at home or engaging in nefarious activities will also think through starting something. It is never too late.
