Pros and Cons of Consulting, Admin, Finance and Project Management Careers

I have been following your posts on Nairaland and I think you can be of help to me as I am currently in a very great fix and confused, superbly confused.
I am a graduate of industrial Physics with CGPA of 4.47, completed NYSC last year November where I served as an administrative assistant in a school, I fell in love with administration.
I also started a course in telecoms but found out I don’t really have passion for it, tho I prepared for CCNA exams, I couldn’t bring myself to write it because I felt I won’t be happy in IT or telecoms.
I got a very small paying job in January which I plan on resigning from because I don’t feel fulfilled doing it.
I was thinking of going into the financial industry that’s switching by doing ICAN I haven’t made the decision yet.
Right now I’m really confused, I have thought bout career path to follow and narrowed what I love doing to this:
1. Consulting and advisory
2. Administrative
3. Finance
4. Project and operations management.
I really need your advice, sorry for the lengthy note, I just needed to pour my heart to someone.

Let me start by telling you the pros and cons of each.
1. Consulting and advisory
Pros:
- A highly specialized field
- Moderately financially rewarding
Cons:
- Takes long time before having the resources and network t set up one’s own outfit
2. Administrative
Pros:
- Easier to get job with
- Opportunity to gain experience and set up one’s organization with ease (e.g school administrators go ahead to set up their own schools based on experienced gotten from working for others)
Cons:
- Career ladder may be slow;
- Hardly a specialized field, as almost anyone can do it
- Relatively low financial reward
3. Finance
Pro:
- Highly financially rewarding
- Highly specialized
- Diverse options
Con:
- Highly competitive
- Llong training time
4. Project and operations management
Pro:
- An evolving field with decent opportunities
Con:
- Now becoming pure water as almost every unemployed person is looking at project management courses
Seeing that you’re a very brilliant person that almost made a First Class in Physics, I will not advise you toe the Admin job part. From the options you listed, I will advise you go ahead and start ICAN. But while at that, find graduate openings in the Big 4 professional services firms (KPMG, PwC, EY, Deloitte), or companies like Accenture, or other companies that recruit from time to time. Try these small investment institutions like Vetiva, Greenwich, Merristem, Cardinal Stone etc, too. The job you get first may determine what you end up as, whether in Finance or Consulting. Project Management doesn’t rank so high in my own personal opinion.
You appear not to be considering sciences, despite studying Physics. You can also consider finding scholarship opportunities abroad for courses like Geophysics or any other relevant Masters course that your Physics first degree is eligible for.
Your degree in Physics (without, but better with, Masters in related course) can actually get you oil company jobs. I know a number of physics graduates that work in top oil companies.
These are the options before you, but in any case, start applying for almost any decent graduate job for now, while exploring other opportunities too.
