POSITIONING FOR POST-SCHOOL JOB PROSPECTS: TIPS FOR A POTENTIAL 2.2 ENGINEERING GRADUATE
Good day sir,
My name is Ola, I am a 500 level student of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Ilorin, Kwara state.
I have been reading your articles and advice to students and graduates alike, and I must say you are doing a great job sir. Please, I need some advice. When I graduate in a few months time, what are some basic things that I must know for me to succeed as an entry level engineer in the industry, there is a likelihood I may graduate with a 2.2, although I have been working hard to make 2.1, I am not getting the desired result. Upon my graduation sir, what must I do to position myself for success in the field of Engineering?
Thank you very much sir.
Ola

Dear Ola,
Thanks for finding our articles and advice here useful.
I passed your case to one of our analysts team with mechanical engineering background.
I passed this to a Mechanical Engineer part of JarusHub Advisory Team
Wasiu holds a first degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and Msc in Sub Sea Engineering from University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where he finished with Distinction. He has worked in oil and gas engineering services industry in Nigeria and abroad for more than 7 years.
I believe the thread in the link below treats your case as well.
However, I would like to re-emphasize that staying informed after graduation is the key (after God’s grace); read more about interviews, test styles for different companies, and in my opinion you can find a way to include your final CGPA in your CV or sometimes cover letter, especially if it is very close to the 2.1 class, say. 3.49 / 5.00, and then apply to “2.1” jobs too, that is when the extras you have will put you at par.I hope you find these tips along with the link helpful, and make sure the first book you read after graduation is “The Road To Victoria Island“, I believe you will find it very helpful too.
