Pass a panel interview
Experienced
Experience in other oil and gas companies or in other decent organizations like banks can be helpful. Masters degree from a top foreign school can also be an added advantage.
REMUNERATION
Not comparable to International Oil Companies (or even top Independents), but still above average. Decent allowances.
JOB SECURITY
Job security used to be high until recently. There has been spotlight on the company in recent time by the Federal Government of Nigeria. There have been major shake-ups in the company in recent times.
JOB TEST
In addition to verbal and quantitative aptitudes, their test also contains discipline-based parts. For example, if you’re an engineering graduate, they will test your basic knowledge of physics too, or if you’re an accounting or economics graduate, basic knowledge of accounting or economics. More like a UME.
Pass rate is high for brilliant graduates that we know.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
It is a one-stage panel interview where you will be asked questions based on what you have on your CV, your discipline and general questions. The panel is usually made up of line Managers and one or two top management staff.
Contrary to the general perception, we believe merit is still a factor in NNPC recruitment as we have seen decent graduates without connection get job in this corporation.
HOW TO APPLY
They usually have graduate recruitment exercises which are well publicized. It takes places roughly in every 3 to 4 years. One is currently ongoing, as successful candidates who aced the test stage are still awaiting interview date.
Their recruitment, especially for entry level, takes long, sometimes as long as two years.
You should however beware of scammers as NNPC is one of the names impostors used to scam job seekers. If in doubt, check this article we wrote on how to spot recruitment fraud.
