Only few things are more frustrating than sticking with a job or career that seems like an endless dark tunnel. While it’s true that getting along smoothly with some jobs could take some time, it may never happen in some cases no matter how hard you try.
It goes without saying that switching over to a new job or career is the right step to take when you’re getting frustrated with your job. But you may not even be aware that you need to quit and make a job or career change – even when the signs are obvious. This is why it is important that you know the signs.
First, a question: What’s the difference between changing your job and changing your career? Changing your job simply means you move to a similar position with a different employer, while changing your career means switching over to a completely different position or industry.

Now, here are 5 signs indicating that you need to change your job or career as soon as possible:
1. You dread your job
Do you suddenly become sad every Sunday night simply because you have to resume work the next morning? Or do you just hate yourself after waking up on each work day? Those are signs that you dread your job or career, and the right step to take is to switch to something more fulfilling.
Sticking with your job even after noticing this will reduce your productivity, affect your health, and lead to many bad consequences you can’t imagine. So, save yourself by doing the needful.
2. You’ve lost your confidence and self esteem
If you’ve gotten to the point where you start doubting yourself and the quality of your work, then you need a job or career switch. You will never be fulfilled working on a job that makes you feel bad about yourself, no matter how attractive the pay is. And carrying on with such a job can affect you psychologically and make you feel incompetent to complete even the simplest tasks.
Your job should always boost your confidence and self-esteem. If the opposite is what you’re getting, then quit and switch.
3. You keep dreaming of another job or career
If you really love your job or career, you won’t imagine yourself doing something else. But when you start spending too much time going through job vacancies and wishing you got those juicy jobs, then that’s enough proof that you really prefer something else to your present job.
It could even get so bad to the point that you start getting jealous of the jobs, careers, or work cultures of your friends or relatives. Don’t wait until it gets that bad before switching over to a better job or career.

4. You’re always lacking energy and feeling bored
No job can be fun all the time. There will be times when you feel like not doing anything, yet there’s much to do. And there will be times when you just have to handle complex, boring, or downright annoying tasks. But this should not be every day.
But if you derive no fulfillment whatsoever from your job, and you’re always bored and unenthusiastic about it, then you need to change to a more fulfilling position or career.
5. You’re only there for the money
Many job seekers make the mistake of accepting a job they don’t like just because of the attractive pay. Truth is, money – no matter how much – can’t make you develop passion for a job. While it’s important to have enough money to pay your bills and live comfortably, it’s not worth it if you’d be sacrificing your own happiness.
Your ideal job or career is one that makes you happy and satisfied, and convinces you that you’re really following your calling. Earning small with such a job is far better than earning big with a job you have no iota of passion for. Once you sense that money is the only reason why you’re still holding on to your job, then switch to a more fulfilling position as soon as possible.

Probably because of unemployment challenges in Nigeria may cause job seekers (especially the desperate ones) to accept a job offer they have no passion for.
My advice to job seekers is; Make Passion your profession and work becomes play. if your dream job is not coming forth, never give up. Don’t just be a job seeker but a person of value. Develop yourself and learn new skills that matches your dream job. Potential employers wants candidates that have something to bring to the table. So, be ready to look and find the job that you want and remember never give up.
What you have to do is just make up your mind and look for your job and if you are already doing an alternate job then please don’t make it permanent as it is not the one that suits you well. Defeat the defeat before defeat defeats you.
