Dear JarusHub
My wife has 3 years experience with a small audit firm, after which she joined a bank. She resigned in bank last year after 4 years to pursue her passion in internal audit and assurance. She’s looking at the big 4. She’s in her early 30s. She holds a first degree in Accounting (2.1) from a top federal universitY. She also has ICAN and CISA.

Dear Uche,
What we suggest for your wife is to craft her CV and cover letter in an excellent manner and apply to experienced roles at any of the Big 4. The good thing is that with the Canada wave sweeping Nigeria’s corporate sector, there have been an increase in the number of advertised vacancies for experienced individuals, most especially by the Big 4 firms. So, she has to redo her CV and tweak it to the role she is applying to and hopefully gets an invite to present her case. During her time in bank, did she perform any auditing or assurance duty? If yes, include it. She has a good CV – Bsc second class upper plus ICAN and CISA. These qualifications will do justice to her being qualified for a role in the audit and assurance department.
Big 4 firms would even like someone with practical experience in the banking industry who could easily join their financial services business unit under the audit and assurance division.
In addition, she can network her way through LinkedIn and possibly contact employees of the Big 4 who might aid her case. Preferably, and to further aid the case, she can contact those who finished from her university and the accounting department. With this, we believe she can get into any of the Big 4.
All the best.
