When I was 17, I decided to help one of my uncles with some home improvements for one of the flats he rented out. We did painting, re did the tiles and the kitchen unit, It was very exciting for me. I was tasked with assembling the kitchen units, there were about 7 of them. My uncle saw I was struggling with assembling the units and I gave up on them, he came over to me and helped me with the units. While he was helping me he told something that I have taken with me till this day, I think it’s a fundamental secret to success. He said “Ife, whenever you try something new it will always seem very hard but once you get through the first one the rest will be easier because you learn from the mistakes of the first one” (we had one of those father son moments lol). I have applied this to things I do even 5 years on. I see a lot of people start something new and because they didn’t get the outcome they want the first couple times they give up. As cliche as this may sound, the secret to success is perseverance through failure. All you need is one success which will dissolve all the times you failed. Keep blogging, keep posting videos, keep applying to jobs, keep pushing through. Lessons Learnt
- In doing anything you must start in order to know where you need help, if I never
attempted to fix the kitchen unit I would have known that I needed help fixing it
- When you start something, you should connect with someone who has achieved what you want/hope to achieve. This person could be a mentor
- Always surround yourself with people who are willing to pull you up when you are
down because those are very crucial moments that could determine your success or failure
- Never give up on your task (dream), just because you failed doesn’t make you a failure. Learn from your mistakes, move on and become better
- Although life is a journey, it is not only about the destination but also about how the journey frames your mindset and personality.
Conclusion: Never get too caught in the moment always think of the end goal
