HOW DO I BLEND COMPUTER SCIENCE WITH ACCOUNTING?

3

Please I need your advice Mr. Jarus. I am a Computer Science graduate from one Nigerian University, I did my NYSC in 2013 and presently working with a travel agent company here in Abuja, but I have this thought of studying Accounting right from my University days; Now I am thinking of pursing an ICAN certificate but my problem is how will it blend with Bsc in computer Science that I had in University and again will it give a chance of securing a nice job?  Please advise if  there is anything I can do that will be better than this.

Thanks

Irrespective of the course you studied, you can write ICAN exams and become a chartered accountant. I have colleagues that studied courses like Chemistry, Agriculture for the first degree, wrote ICAN/ACCA and are working as Accountants today.

So your course of study actually doesn’t matter. If anything, Computer Science blends well with Accounting – you can specialize in the information technology part of accounting (accounting software deployment).

Yes, ICAN plus Bsc Computer Science boosts your job chance. It gives you options – you can apply for computer openings, accounting openings, and openings that require a blend of both (which are many).

Go start ICAN.

All the best.

Good day sir, Mr. Jarus. I have just been given admission to study Local Government Administration in OAU. I would like to know if there are professional courses I could take as well as my chances of securing a nice job in future while honing my skills in public speaking. Regards!

I am not aware of any professional course for LG administration. Like Political Science, Sociology and all that, it is not a professional course anyway.

So just equip yourself with knowledge of local and international politics, enhance your versatility through reading anything readable; and most importantly, study hard to graduate with a good grade.

As for public speaking, start practicing right from school.
