Field of Specialization Dilemma of an Economics Graduate

0

Hello, my name is Olaide, a recent graduate of economics education, an ATS 3 (ICAN) student. Please I need your advice on which career is best for me. For 2 years now, I have been confused on where to focus on. In this age and time what career is really challenging and profitable? I have little or no  experience in Accounting , but in management. Please I want my endless search for  my purpose in life to stop now that I have found you.

I am 22 years, made a second class upper, and I am going for NYSC in September 2018.

Thank you

Dear Olaide,

You have the required qualifications – good grade and age on your side.

The truth is, for most people, their first job determines their eventual career. I studied economics, but I am an accountant today because that was my first job.

Try to continue your ICAN and by the time you finish your NYSC, you should have qualified.

Try applying to PwC, KPMG, Ernst and Young, Deloitte, Accenture etc and investment firms like Meristem, Vetiva, Cardinal Stone etc and see if you could get job there.

I really don’t think you should worry much now, whatever department you are put (Audit, Advisory, Tax, Corporate Finance, Stockbroking etc, depending on the company) is ok. All these fields are “profitable”.

Don’t worry much now about field of specialization. Just start from somewhere. You can always move to your best

All the best.
