Dilemma of a Brilliant Accounting Graduate With Elusive Internship Opportunity

0

Good day, Jarus

I would like to thank you for creating such a wonderful platform as the JarusHub, which I greatly benefited from during my undergraduate days.
I am a recent graduate of Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University, an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a student member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants  (ACCA).
Though coming from an accounting background, I have a great flair for finance. I have sent out lots of my resume applying for Pre-NYSC internship with finance companies, all with no feedback.
I see myself as an high achiever; qualifying as an ACA at age 20, a first class graduate of Accounting and a professional level student of ACCA, all of which are outlined in the resume. I am in a state of dilemma as to why I have not been able to secure an internship, though I do not have any previous finance-related experience.
I would like to know your take on my resume, which is attached herein. Thank you.
Kind regards,
Lateefah

Dear Lateefah,
You have a great CV and I have no doubt that you will get a good job after your NYSC.

Internship culture is not very developed in Nigeria. Only few companies offer it and those that offer it sometimes don’t advertise it as it may be based on referral.
Keep trying. Keep sending your application to firms.
Whether you get internship or not does not really matter. It is not a big deal. The real deal is after your NYSC. So don’t worry so much. Get yourself busy with readings in Finance as well as interview tips.
I have many first class friends that never got any internship, some served in villages during NYSC, and still got great jobs after NYSC.
So nothing to worry about.
All the best.
Jarus
