One common quality of people with fast career growth is that they update their knowledge from time to time. I still wonder why some people find it difficult to move with time. Time is changing and things are evolving. Don’t be caught napping. ‘Oga at the top’ was said to be highly effective in his job, but his not keeping himself up to date with latest information got him into national opprobrium.
You update your knowledge by reading, interacting with like-minds or people that are more knowledgeable, and attending beneficial events. I read newspapers to keep myself up to date on a lot of things. As the tax accountant of my company, I make it a duty for myself to ensure I read every piece of news item on taxation in Nigeria, and even other climes. I have also subscribed to a couple of tax forums to ensure I get alerts anytime there are new developments.
