One key to having an enjoyable work environment is understanding your colleagues. We all have different personalities – even siblings. Managing this personality difference is important. I know someone that almost resigned from her job, not because she doesn’t like the job , not because her bosses dont like her, but because of frustration by a colleague, who -wait for this – is even a subordinate to her. This is what inability to manage people can cause.
I have always been fortunate to be highly liked (at least overtly) by my colleagues in all the places I have worked, and one secret that helps me is my open approach. I study everybody and try to relate with everyone. I don’t keep malice and I am quite forgiving. I also joke with everyone, of course within limit. Understanding the people one works with can make huge difference in one’s career.
