Career Q&A: Chartered Accountant or Software Engineer?
Hello,
I want you guys to help me decide a career path, I do not want to invest my time and money to a career path that might be less relevant in 10-15 years time from now.
Thank you
Dear Worried Man,
I am a chartered accountant and not doing badly, but I will advise software engineering.
There are many chartered accountants. It’s almost an all-comers field. Although there are also more jobs a CA can apply to (almost all organizations need an accountant and in large organizations, accounting department could be as big as 30 people).
So there may be more small to mid level opportunities for CA but I think software engineering is a narrower and better niche, you can relatively easily stand out.
You may be lost in the crowd in CA except you have other skills.
Regards
Jarus
