CAN AN UNCONFIRMED EMPLOYEE PUT THE SHORT EXPERIENCE ON CV?
Good day Jarus,
I was recently given a notice of non confirmation of employment by a company, after spending only 3 months there. My concern is, can I include it on my CV especially it been a career I really want to build?
It came as a shock to me especially where I am seen by the majority as a top performer.
Would it affect my job chances?
Thanks.
Unfortunately, how your fellow employees see you may be different from how decision makers see you. Take it as one of those things and move on. Zinedine Zidane failed trials in a football club for poor performance at trials at the beginning of his career, yet, he went on to become arguably the world’ best footballer in the decade 1997 – 2006. These things happen.
I think you can still put the 3 month experience on your CV. If asked during interview why you quit after 3 months, just play with words. Something like (with some remorse) “It was a good company I would have loved to stay longer with as I was learning. There was however some restructuring in the company that affected me and a couple of others. Nonetheless, I learnt from the experience”.
