ANDELA NIGERIA APPOINTS OMOWALE DAVID-ASHIRU AS NEW COUNTRY DIRECTOR
Andela Nigeria (the best place to work in Nigeria according to Jobberman – 2018) announced today the appointment of Omowale David-Ashiru as its Country Director. She replaces Seni Sulyman (currently Vice President of Andela’s global operations).
Omowale has over 20 years of management consulting and entrepreneurial experience having been and has worked in various roles in information technology, business management, business analysis, improvement methods, IT strategy and project planning.
Before joining Andela early this month, she was the Director of Strictly Babes, a fashion design and merchandise company she founded for almost nine years; before this, she was the senior manager at the information technology consulting firm – Accenture. Omowale joins a rapidly growing team of more than 500 individuals who are poised to tell everyone that intelligence is universal but opportunity, unfortunately, is not and are ready to demystify thoughts about tech development in Nigeria nay Africa.
She says “everything I have done before now feels like a preparation for this role and I am excited to join this wonderful team of highly motivated individuals who are investing their skills and effort into advancing opportunity and potential in Nigeria and the continent at large”. Additionally, Seni is elated about Omowale’s appointment: “Omowale has the right mix of relevant experiences in leadership, management and entrepreneurship to lead the next phase of Andela Nigeria’s growth”. Furthermore, “Andela Nigeria, our first office in Africa, is rapidly growing, and I have complete confidence in Omowale’s ability to lead the team as we continue to scale”.
Omowale, who describes herself as an avid reader, adventurer and people oriented person, has a first class degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan and joined Accenture as an analyst 19 years ago and is a Certified Project Manager.
