3 REIGNING CAREER & EDUCATIONAL SERVICES SCAMS

0

The scammers and dupers have not relented in the efforts at hoodwinking potential job seekers and students.

We present 3 common tactics currently being deployed by these scammers.

1, WAEC/UTME SCORE UPGRADE

It is common to see in forums and comment sections of websites, comments asking secondary school leavers to call a certain person who can help them upgrade their WAEC or university matriculation examination score. This is a scam. Neither WAEC nor UTME upgrades scores on candidates. Please don’t fall victim of this fraud.

2, LINKEDIN LIKE TO WORK IN UAE OR QATAR

This is common on LinkedIn, the professional networking site. You see someone, sometimes using a fake profile and claiming to be recruitment consultant of an oil company in UAE or Qatar. He makes a post and asks you to click “like” to express interest in a job in UAE or Qatar. This is mostly scam. Please beware.

3, CONFERENCE INVITATION TO CANADA

This tactic involves sending you an email and inviting you to a conference in Canada, or elsewhere. This is another scam. This is a little more sophisticated and easy to fall prey for. Sometimes, the sender would have done his homework by creating internet contents (website, LinkedIn profile, customized email address etc) so that when you google their name, you will see some information that appear to lend credibility to them. These guys have only done their assignment. They are scams. Watch.
