Acing the GRE/GMAT is the most important part of a successful application to graduate schools in the US and to some schools in Canada. Application letters, undergraduate GPA, and letters of recommendation all matter but not nearly as much as the GRE or GMAT score.
As small as the GRE/GMAT registration fee may appear, it is observed that many Nigerians still struggle to be able to afford it.
In light of this, Dr. Michael Taiwo, a US-based Nigerian engineer is instituting a support for Nigerians wishing to study in those two countries.
The support
- Payment of registration fees for two candidates for GRE and one candidate for GMAT
- Mentoring
Eligibility
- The scholarship award is open to final year students in Universities in Nigeria as well as recent graduates (who graduated not earlier than 2013)
- Candidate must have graduated with a CGPA of 4.0 in a 5-point system (or equivalent CGPA if not based on a 5-point scale) or, in the case of final year students, have such CGPA as at end of the penultimate year.
Application
Interested candidates should send an email to jarushub@gmail.com with the following information:
- Email subject: Application for Michael Taiwo Scholarship (GRE or GMAT as applicable)
- Name
- School
- Course of study
- Year of graduation
- CGPA
- Short note (not more than 10 lines) on why you want your registration for the exam financed
Application closes 15 October 2019.
Please note that shortlisted candidates will be invited for a test to hold in Lagos in the last week of October 2019.

I would like to ask for clarification on the motivation letter of not more than 10 Lines. Does it mean Normal word document format or mail format which can also be subjected to debate.
Thanks
Either is ok, but mail format is preferred.
I’m really appreciative of such a kind gesture and act of benevolence by the generous son of the soil, Dr. Michael Taiwo. I hope that I make it, but even if I don’t, I still would recommend that others who have seen brighter days like Dr. Taiwo would walk in similar step towards fostering an unevasive education in Nigeria. More encouragement to him.
for some of us that do not meet the CGPA OF4.0 are there opportunities like this for us out there?
Please Jarus, for the CGPA of 4.0, is one supposed to just write it if one has up to that or one is supposed to scan and send the calculated CGPA?
Just write
I am a graduate who wants to further his studies in UK on a scholarship fully founded. There’s a requirement for IELTS which will cost about 74,000 naira to register for. Can this illustrious kind gesture be extended to cover this too?
Hi! You have a Brocken links, I have created a content piece that will fix your links, it will be very nice if you links to my link.
Pls, I want to ask about those applying in their final year in the university, how will their own be runned if the person succeed? Will the Michael taiwo team wait for them to finish their studies as well as NYSC before taking other steps for them? as well as writing the GRE?
